I used it once at a live film screening to engage the audience, and it performed as expected. This account was tied to my former small business, which I haven’t closed but am not currently operating. The charge caused my account to overdraft, which was not only stressful but also financially impactful. Anyone who has ever tried to build a small business or create independent films knows how difficult it is to stay afloat financially. What may seem like a small $129.72 charge to a company like Poll Everywhere is, in reality, a significant amount to those of us who are working hard to create something meaningful. It’s also incredibly frustrating that their process requires customers to jump through hoops, such as manually downgrading their accounts, even after stating they no longer want the service. They have no customer service phone number, forcing you to rely on slow, email-only communication. This makes resolving issues a time-consuming process that could be avoided with a simple phone call. A Missed Opportunity for Good Customer Service: Policies should serve as guidelines, not barriers to doing the right thing. Good companies know when to consider context and make exceptions for honest mistakes, especially when the evidence is clear: no service usage for an entire year and an inadvertent overdraft. Instead, Poll Everywhere chose to hide behind their policy, demonstrating a lack of empathy and integrity.
